Learning spaces at our specialist school
As a specialist provision, we understand the vital role that both the physical and emotional environment play in helping every child feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.
Our school is inclusive by design, providing a carefully planned, well resourced learning environment, intended to meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
We offer ten high-quality learning spaces, including a fully equipped food technology room and a dedicated calm, self-referral space that supports emotional regulation and wellbeing. Each space is thoughtfully adapted to meet a wide range of ages, abilities, and individual learning profiles, enabling all students to access learning in a way that works for them.
Our classrooms are therapeutically structured to support focus, emotional regulation, and positive engagement with clear routines, appropriate sensory considerations and flexible learning approaches. This inclusive design supports students to build confidence, develop independence, and make sustained progress both academically and personally. Through consistent use of these environments, pupils are supported to overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Outdoor Learning and Woodland Access
As part of our approach to SEND education, we recognise the importance of outdoor learning and its impact on wellbeing. We are fortunate to have access to a range of outdoor spaces, including a nearby woodland area.
These environments provide valuable opportunities for exploration, physical activity, and nature-based learning. Outdoor sessions are used to support the curriculum, while also helping students develop resilience, social skills, and emotional regulation.
Access to green spaces offers a calm and grounding experience, which is particularly beneficial for students with additional needs. By incorporating outdoor learning into everyday school life, we create a balanced and engaging educational experience that supports the whole child.
